I just want to let all of you know about the really good deal we found at Zaycon Fresh Chicken. They are selling boneless, skinless chicken breasts for only $1.89 per pound. These chickens are vegeterian-fed and cage-free; they are not given antibiotics or hormones. Our family had actually been buying our fresh chicken from Braum’s at around $4.19 a pound. This was running into a lot of money when you have a family of five to feed. Of course, Walmart has the vegeterian-fed, cage-free chicken for around $5.50 – $6.00 a pound. We realized that Braum’s was a little less expensive. However, Zaycon Fresh Chicken is the same quality as both of these suppliers and so much cheaper on the budget. Can you say $1.89 a pound?

All three companies give their poultry a diet of corn and soy. Customer Service could not confirm that the corn or soy was from non-gmo sources. However, it looks like the only way to get around that problem is either to raise your own chickens or buy chicken that is labeled “organic.” Since the “organic” chicken is $6.29 a pound at Walmart, we decided the best deal would be to go with Zaycon Fresh.
For our first time, I was going to order only 40 pounds. They only drop off every three months in our area. However, my husband thought that wouldn’t be enough meat to last for three months so I ordered 80 pounds. Yes, I said 80 pounds!!!!! If we were going to order, he wanted to go all the way!!! haha I really like the size of the chicken breasts. We vacuum-sealed all the meat into smaller portions. It is so awesome to be able to look in the freezer and know there is plenty of meat. Zaycon Fresh packs the fresh chicken in large plastic bags. Of course, they are in really sturdy boxes as well. I was up to my elbows in chicken. Yes, literally!!! hehe
The kids and I froze all the meat in vacuumed-sealed bags. I love doing it this way since you can cut the bags to the size that works for your family. We usually make it 3 pounds. You always want to remember that the sealer will not suck all the air out if you do not place a folded paper towel at the mouth of the bag. This way all the juices are sucked into the towel and not into your machine. The sealer will keep trying to pull out all the air but will keep getting the juice from the meat. This messes up the seal strip so it won’t heat properly. Here is how the bag should look when you place the edge in the sealer. You really want it about a half inch past the black foam gasket.
This is perfect for those weeks when we are low on money. It gives me such a peace of mind. Well, anyway – I am so excited!!!! This way I will not be paying $4.19 a pound at Braum’s for basically the same product. Instead, we are only paying $1.89 a pound when we order through Zaycon Fresh. Since they drop off chicken only every 3 months you have to plan ahead and order enough where you won’t run short and freak out like I do when the freezer is getting empty. hahaha If you want great prices on quality chicken, just click on this link and it will take you right to the Zaycon Fresh website where you can see when it will be dropped off in your area. I hope this helps you guys save some money.
